I've been trying to work more on my writing lately. Specifically character dialog since I generally have considered that my weakness. So I wrote a script for a fictional movie set in the Star Trek universe. Figure I'll share the link publicly since there really isn't anything I can do with it - it is fan-fiction after all.

As far as setting goes, I envisioned it as the "last" movie in the series established with the 2009 reboot starring Chris Pine as Captain Kirk. I'll admit up front, there is some strong fan-service in there. And the call-backs to previous Star Trek movies were intentional. Still, of the new series movies I typically say "good movies, bad Star Trek" when I talk or think about them. From my perspective, fan-service is deserved.

I wouldn't expect many people to spend time reading this. It's a script designed for a full-length feature film, so it's over a hundred pages. Among the places I've shared it already, I only know of one person who took the time to read it. Mostly posting it so it doesn't fall into the abyss of my Google Drive like many documents. If anyone does read it, I hope you enjoy it. I don't think of myself as a professional writer, but I'd like to think it's good enough no one will feel their time was wasted.
I feel a bit bad when I have people commenting their thanks for watching them or making one of their pieces my Favourites and I don't respond. It's really a matter of not knowing what to say. Is it customary to reply with a "you're welcome" on the comment? On one hand I do appreciate them commenting because it shows they care about having their artwork followed. On the other hand, I want to think there isn't anything more I can add from already clicking the Watch button, or adding a piece to my Favourites.

Hopefully no one ever gets offended at the lack of comment back. Probably not, but it's been a passing thought since I have been watching more people these past two weeks.
Why not?

1)   How long have you been on DeviantArt?
A good 7 years now.

2)   What does your username mean?
One day in college my roommate saw my draping myself with a blue sheet to cover myself since someone was at the door and all I had on was underwear. Since I'm Cuban, he jokingly called me "The Blue Cuban" as my "superhero name" since I looked like I was wearing a blue cape.

3)   Describe yourself in three words.
How about cowabunga?

4)   Are you left or right handed?
I'm a righty.

5)   What was your first deviation?
A character I made for my own portfolio site.

6)   What is your favourite type of art to create?
Really the only type of art I'm good at creating. It's taking letters from unique fonts and moving them about to create characters and figures.

7)   If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
I'd love to be able to draw in the style of the original Pokemon video game.

8)   What was your first favourite?
It was a piece with the Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.

9)   What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
Generally any art related to The Legend of Zelda.

10)   Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
It's a tie between Quirkilicious
and JamesmanTheRegenold  as I love both their pieces.

11)   If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
I suppose Quas-quas because of the unique style being great for art display it would be nice to speak on best impressions for display.

12)   How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
One deviant who is sadly no longer on the site did a chibi artwork that my wife and I used on our wedding invitations.

13)   What are your preferred tools to create art?
I've always been a huge fan of Adobe (formerly Macromedia) Fireworks.

14)   What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
No particular place; I use music. Each thing I do is influenced by the music I play.

15)   What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
I suppose the first time I had a commission made. It was so great to have something made just for me and be something I've imagined but couldn't make myself.
